Description

Here’s another fun-in-the-sun themed review for my cold Canadian counterparts.

The Crucial Collection is just that – there’s no false advertising here. Look Mexico has released a compilation of old ep’s and random tracks that tracks the progression of the band up to their full length This Is Animal Music. Which reminds me though, the idea of animals, or places in band names that Look Mexico sounding similar to; For example, Sharks Keep Moving, Minus The Bear, Pedro The Lion etc etc all fall into this finger-tapping smooth-as-silk indie-rock that functions not only as an aural massage for your weakened rat-race brains, but could very well be on the bleeding edge of musical progression.

It’s tough to fully analyze what is essentially a b-side collection. But, if the band is superb then it makes it easy to listen to, it’s almost as if it’s a whole new album and I always find b-side discs more interesting then the full length’s – it's fun to ask why they left out particular songs and you get to listen to the band mature and grow as the collection plays on.

Look (Mexico), if you’re already a fan – why don’t you have this already?

Go forth, and look! Mexico! http://www.myspace.com/lookmexico
