September 11, 2007- Haste The Day have quickly become one of the most beloved bands in metalcore playing the incendiary metal that stays imprinted in audience memories.  Their latest album “Pressure The Hinges” was recently on March 10th through Solid State Records to applause from fans and the press alike having currently sold almost 60,000 copies (nearly 10,000 first week) and reviews hailing it as “metalcore at its finest, effortlessly switching gears from typical heavy assaults to catchy hooks and ethereal interludes… Pressure the Hinges boasts a gamut of roars, screams and growls, addictive hair metal riffs and pop-punk harmonies”(AbsolutePunk.net). “Pressure The Hinges” was produced by GGGarth Richardson (RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, CHEVELLE), and builds dramatically upon the success of the bands previous efforts "Burning Bridges" (2004) and "When Everything Falls Apart" (2005), which sold over 100,000 copies nationwide making them “one of the most visible metalcore bands circling the globe.”(Decoymusic.com)

Haste The Day are touring machines currently captivating audiences across the US  as they tour non-stop for the rest of the year. Haste The Day are on a massive tour right now with Atreyu, It Dies Today and So They Say. The tour has been a huge success so far with swirling mosh-pits and excited fans. “We are really excited to be sharing the road with Atreyu. They've been an influence on our music for a long time. So far we are having a lot of fun getting to know the guys and sharing the stage with them. We couldn't be happier with the tour.” Do not miss this heavy-hitting tour when it comes to your town!

The band is also ecstatic to announce that they will be touring with As I Lay Dying, All That Remains and Through The Eyes Of The Dead starting at the end of October and going through November. This tour is going to be playing to massive venues of rowdy fans making it a tour you do not want to miss. Haste The Day drummer Devin Chaulk commented on the tour saying: “We are really excited about our upcoming tour with As I Lay Dying. This is our third time going out with them, but the first time since they grew to be the metal monsters they are. We can't wait to start that tour.”

The far- reaching success of “Pressure The Hinges” continues to build as Haste The Day grips audiences across the globe. Pick up this new album and check out a show near you with one of the biggest names in metalcore!

Picastro - Whore Luck - 2007 - Polyvinyl E-mail
Written by stefan

Picastro and I share at least 1 thing in common – we both live in the same city. Call it great, or tiring or even hate it but Toronto is such a welcoming spot for talented artists.  Whether or not Liz Hysen planned that or not, it doesn’t matter, Picastro could be from a backwater town in Alabama and this record would still ooze with fucking goodness.

Picastro takes on a minimalist approach to songwriting – there’s no added distractions and fluff to get in the way of her passionate and spatial songs. It’s just you and her with some softly strung backing instruments to take you on a trip through your conscious. For me, I kept getting the imagery of walking through an autumn forest, Liz’s voice as a guide.

The cello automatically adds a spooky atmosphere to her work, some songs sound like a solo Murder By Death project. The songs share the same kind of swagger, it’s especially noticeable on “In The Weeds”. Her vocals aren’t projected but rather strewn almost under-breath and have a kind of murmur to them – I doubt it’s important to know exactly what she’s saying at all times, since the mood of the record overtakes any kind of lyrical message.

Picastro’s record is called Whore Luck, but the success it will bring Liz has nothing to do with luck at all, it will be her ability to enter your mind and to allow you to experience her music and use it as a vehicle along whichever path you choose.
